Project: Create an inspiring, relaxed design-focused newsletter for an interior design firm.

CLIENT: Interior Designer

In North Texas, our short spring is swiftly turning into a sweltering summer. But spending time indoors, comforted by the crisp cool air, doesn’t justify drab interiors leftover from gloomy days.

As the grass continues to green and grow and colorful flowers dot the landscape, we want our interiors to reflect that same radiant beauty we admire just on the other side of the window.

In North Texas, our short spring is swiftly turning into a sweltering summer. But spending time indoors, comforted by the crisp cool air, doesn’t justify drab interiors leftover from gloomy days.

We deserve to surround ourselves indoors with interiors that invoke the carefree, run-barefoot-in-the-grass feeling that only summer can offer. Now is the time to refresh your interiors and infuse your most lived-in spaces with summer feel goods.

A few, thoughtful and intentional design changes can easily evoke a lighter feel. Scroll below for my top four ways to give your space the summer refresh it deserves. These ideas may already be a part of your seasonal rituals, but I’m here to remind you that yes, these intentional changes help create a home that feels lighter, and is made for inspired living… all summer long.

NO.1 Lighten Soft Furnishings

Exchange dark pillow coverings and throws for lighter versions. Mix and match textures for a casual feel. If you want to make a bolder change, switch out area rugs as well.

NO.2. Fresh Flowers Weekly

What a difference a vase of flowers makes in a room. It’s instant happiness. Take advantage of fresh cuttings at the store (we love the Trader Joe's flower section) and fill various sized containers around your home. Don’t forget areas such as the primary bedside table and guest room bath.

NO.3 Turn Water into a Sip of Summer

Even water can be made to look (and taste) decadent with the addition of summer produce. Invest in a beautiful clear decanter set (like this one) to turn a plain glass of water into a good-for-you sip of summer.

NO.4 Set the Table in a Picnic State of Mind

When setting the table indoors, think of picnics outdoors and add these textures and colors to the table. Rattan placemats remind us of vintage picnic baskets and light linen napkins replicate the softer fabric of summer sundresses. Add flowers to the table, and enjoy a light indoor fare inspired by picnics under swaying trees, but minus the ants.

CLIENT: Mid Century Modern Furniture Dealer

PROJECT: Create a fun, and light hearted newsletter sequence for a high end furniture resale business run by two best friends with a killer sense of humor. The sequence was written with their target clients in mind; other moms.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Flodesk.

Each section below is excerpts from a difference newsletter in the sequence.

Twice a year, we agree to live for a month in an RV.

And we don't just agree to it, we actually look forward to it with the same type of gusto you might see from a newly licensed 16 year-old heading out the door with car keys for the first time.

With a gazillion outfits (prepared for any weather), no food (we're not THAT prepared), 100 bags of coffee (to counteract the cocktails) and approximately 20 pairs of cowgirl boots (when in Rome) we squeeze into tiny RV's and set off for the Round Top Antiques Show, so we can maneuver easily between our tent at Blue Hills and our home-on-wheels.

For two weeks every spring and fall, the tiny town of Round Top, Texas becomes our home-away-from-home. With the care-free giddiness of two Moms who just left their kids at home with Dad, we showcase the very best of THE M: vintage furniture, art and objects for fine folk whose style is all their own, and have a marvelous time doing it!

Less Sourcing. More of Everything Else

Receive a trade-discount on our collection of vintage furniture, art and finds that will WOW your clients and free up your precious time because…

designing interesting spaces, fostering client relationships, keeping trades on task, and maintaining a personal life is hair-pulling, nail-biting, throwing-both hands-up-in-the-air-and-slumping-down in-a-chair, need-a-glass-of-wine-at-3pm insanity.

As busy wives and mothers (of teenagers no-less), we understand that work-life balance isn't won in big strides, but is found when you can save your energy (mental and physical) in multiple areas of your business.

Ways To Shop With Us

  1. Round Top, Texas

As two southern gals, small-town Texas has our heart. Shop with us twice a year for two weeks in Round Top, Texas. Find us in Tent M (cute, huh?) at the Blue Hills venue. You'll likely meet us in rare form: tired, hungry, stuffing our face with tacos, giddy from exhaustion, being silly or lounging in one of our redone chairs enjoying a cocktail. Join us!

  2. Our small, but mighty online store

We're do-ers and not sit in front of the computer-ers. But we offer a small selection of some of our favorite pieces online. Click here to shop.

  3. Big D Local Love

We just moved warehouses and this one has air-conditioning and heat. It's fancy. And tucked inside, is our finished collection, hoards of fabric, and pieces in queue for their make-overs. Located just north of McKinney, we'll host a yearly Shop THE M market and are available for in-person and online warehouse appointments.

  4. Follow us on the 'gram.

We're not insta-famous and haven't had a reel go viral (yet), but you should still follow us on Instagram. We post inventory you can buy and tidbits that might make you laugh. If you see something you like, send us a DM.
