Copywriting for Food Brands

CLIENT: Killer Pecans

Project: Website Copy. Killer Pecans is a gourmet pecan product created by two nationally recognized chefs. Their website had little copy and did not explain the uniqueness of their product, We focused on a USP and how this particular food product could serve customers.

Gourmet Texas Pecans Crafted By Chefs

The Most Snack-Able Pecans In Texas

When trained chefs George & Katie Brown set out to spice up a plain bag of Texas pecans, a killer snack was born. Sweet and spicy with a bold kick, Killer Pecans combines the crunch of fresh Mammoth pecans with chef-crafted flavor for a Texas-sized taste that is truly chef's kiss.

More Than Just A Snack

Did you know that pecans pack a healthy punch as an excellent source of protein?

More than just a snack, Killer Pecans is your secret weapon for spicing up salads, infusing crunch into tired recipes, and simply wowing everyone that pulls up a chair to your dinner table.

Doesn’t it feel good to have two chefs in your corner?

Enter the sweet pairing your taste buds didn’t know they were missing! Chocolate Dynamite is the first mind-blowing chef collaboration between Killer Pecans and renowned Dallas chocolatier Dude Sweet Chocolate.

Did our pecans first fall into their vat of dark chocolate or did their sweet chocolate first coat our Killer Pecans? We can’t remember, but one bite will leave you speechless, satisfying your sweet tooth like never before.

Sweet and Spicy for the Chocolate Lover. Chocolate Dynamite is our original famous Killer Pecans dipped in rich dark South American chocolate.

Available in snack sized bags to throw in your purse or car and family-sized bags and tins for easy sharing (if you must). We suggest hiding a bag (or two) for when a killer craving hits.

CLIENT: Chefs For Farmers

Project: The owner of Chefs for Farmers came to EverLee studio frustrated that their social media content felt superficial and was focusing more on the Chefs For Farmers “party” atmosphere than its original mission. We created a series of deep connection content posts that shared their heart for farmers and real food.

When we began the CFF journey eleven years ago, we spent many hours driving through rural towns, visiting small family farms. Far enough away, so the big city lights don’t dim the stars, our CFF Farm Dinners are a delicious way to pay homage to the land that our family farmers call home. Purchase tickets to our 2023 Farm Dinners using the link in our bio or sign up for our newsletter to get info sent straight to your inbox.

Did you know that for the last three decades, roughly 40 U.S. family cattle operations have gone out of business every day? If we don’t support them now, we’ll certainly miss them later. At the CFF Main Event this year, take note of the farmers listed on the tent banners and then connect with them at the farmers markets or through direct ordering. Together we can make a difference!

“I know once people get connected to real food, they never change back.” – Alice Waters. Connection starts at your Farmers Market. Shopping directly from local food producers will change your relationship with food. You will appreciate every bite, knowing the hands that labored to bring it to you.

But don’t just take our word for it. Grab your favorite canvas tote, hit up your local market, and notice the shift. Eating #realfood feels more authentic, intentional and joyful.  And if you need a Farmers Market recommendation, send us a DM.

When you sit down to a meal created by a chef that sources food locally, the plate placed in front of you is the result of a collaboration between chef and farmer. The CFF Main Event shines a light on those relationships, pairing chefs with local farmers and ranchers.

But what I love about our intimate dinners is the behind-the-scenes collaboration BETWEEN chefs; plating for each other, serving dishes together and cheering each other on. We are one big CFF family and our love for one another (and amazing food) is on full display when we gather together and cook for you.

CLIENT: Barton Springs Mill

Project: The owner of BSM was frustrated with superficial social media content. He wanted to share the why behind the organic flour mill and tell the stories of his farmers to a community of both novice and seasoned bakers.

BSM

From afar, a field of wheat may look like grass, but these stalks of simple grains, after milling, will later become celebratory cakes with candles,  plates of cookies welcoming new neighbors, dishes of pasta piled high and drenched in tomato sauce, and loaves of sourdough bread sliced when still warm because adoring fans just can't wait.

SHOP our selection of organic, freshly milled heritage flours and ancient grains ONLINE and get excited about all the future memorable moments our simple bags of flour contain.

Did you know that buckwheat flour is considered a superfood? It's full of protein, fiber, B-vitamins, amino acids and contains free-radical-zapping anti-oxidant phytochemicals. It even reduces inflammation thanks to naturally-occuring quercetin and is also gluten-free.

Buckwheat has (and continues to) nourish the world's oldest cultures. It's earthy flavor and deep color is a simple reminder of how cooking with and eating ancient heritage grains can connect us to the earth, our history and to each other.

We use our 100% organic Buckwheat Flour to make crepes, pancakes, quick breads and soba noodles. Find buckwheat recipes on our website under the LEARN & DO tab on our main navigation.

A farmer's livelihood is dependent on factors they can't control. They can do all the "right" things, and still be left empty-handed. Farmers can rise with the sun, care for their crops as if each plant was a child to be lovingly nurtured, eat supper long after dark, and then drift off to sleep, still thinking of their fields.

And then one storm rolls through…

Recently, one of our partner farms was hit by a hail storm: 80 acres of crops decimated just 7 weeks shy of harvest. For them, the season is over. But will they quit farming? Absolutely not, because there are people, like you and me, to feed.

What would we eat without the stubbornness of farmers? When you buy grains from Barton Springs Mill, you are supporting a network of dedicated farmers working tirelessly to grow nutrient-dense "real" food. The majority of our grain is grown in Texas and southern Oklahoma and farm locations are listed in each product description. So let us know your favorite flour or grain and we'll pass on the message directly to the farmer who grew it, giving them a boost of encouragement, no doubt when they need it most. #knowyourfarmer #thankafarmer

Do you have a memory from childhood that involves a big pretzel?

Walking around the mall, fair grounds or sports stadium eating a soft, salty pretzel wrapped in a tiny square of parchment paper was A THING. Usually, the line for the pretzel kiosk was a mile long, and waiting was borderline torturous with the scent of yeasty bread filling the air.

Skip the lines and learn to make the pretzels of your childhood from scratch! Join us on Sunday June 11th for a Pretzel class led by @abbyjaneyall baker, Tyler Carpenter. You'll learn the in-depth process and technique from dough to bath to bake, leaving the class with a few pretzels (and new baking tricks) of your own. All levels are welcome.

Sign up with a friend, bring something to sip on and make another pretzel memory with us at the mill.

Sign up and explore our classes under the LEARN & DO tab on our website.

CLIENT: Patina Green Home and Market

Project: Patina Green Home & Market was a copywriting, content, photography and marketing client for 15 years. Noting a few points from the owners, I wrote a heart felt letter (from the owners’ perspective) announcing a change in ownership.

Photography by Melinda with EverLee Studio

We opened Patina Green Home and Market ten years ago.  It was our response to a tragic, unexpected loss in our family. We were reeling from the hole left in our lives, and trying to make sense of it all. In the midst of deep pain, we knew that we wanted to cherish each other every single day.  Leaning on our individual talents, together we created Patina Green Home and Market, where working together, we put into practice all we were learning about the connection between food and disease. We needed a safe space where we could heal and learn to brave the world again.

We imagined that working together as a family with a common goal to educate our community on the value of real food would be the medicine needed to close our gaping wound. However, we never expected that true healing would come from each of you, our beloved Patina Green community. You’ve healed us each time you have walked through our doors and with every sandwich bought and antique carried out, with each double tap on an Instagram post, and every dinner or event you attended, and each time you stood in line (sometimes in the rain and cold) for Bob’s tacos.

YOU have been the most important part of the Patina Green story.... of OUR story.  You’ve opened your lives to us, loved us, laughed with us and stood beside us as we led the rallying cry for real food, local artisans, and hard-working farmers. You’ve found value in intentional shopping and thoughtful spending; decorating your homes with antiques and curiosities that we celebrate for only becoming more beautiful with age.

Together, we’ve made an impact that we never would have been able to make on our own. We are grateful.

But like all the best stories, characters and plots must evolve.  After 10 years on the historic McKinney square, we will close the doors to Patina Green Home and Market. Our final day of business will be February 29, 2020.

We have found a home among you in this small Texas town. We’ve discovered friendship, love and purpose, and we are whole again. Now, we are ready for new chapters. It’s hard to close our sweet store, but like the finches that have become the Patina Green mascots, it is time to spread our wings and fly the coop. We are excited to explore this beautiful world and find new adventures and challenges to take on.

Thank you for living life with us over the past 10 years. And no, this is definitely not the end to our Patina Green Home and Market story. It’s a new chapter and one that we can’t wait to share with you as it unfolds.
